About Steve
Question
Born and raised in the greater Baltimore area, Steve Preston is an accomplished landscape architect with a keen understanding of the benefits and challenges that come with living in an urban setting. While living and working in Baltimore over the past decade, friends and neighbors often sought Steve’s expertise to green and beautify their spaces inside and out. In the summer of 2019, Steve launched Moss & Mortar to bring his eye for design to even more clients’ yards and interiors across Charm City.
Prior to starting Moss & Mortar, Steve studied at Penn State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture in 2007, and a Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture in 2009. Since graduating from PSU, Steve has practiced as a Landscape Designer for private firms and a non-profit organization, and he officially became a licensed Professional Landscape Architect (PLA) in 2018. During his years at Penn State, he was fortunate enough to travel and live across Europe in several diverse cities and countries. Steve’s time abroad ignited his passion for urban living and continues to inspire his designs today at home in Baltimore.
Each custom design Steve produces is completed with a vision of elevating the homes and yards of clients to be the best they can be, as well as a refuge from the stressors of daily life. With every project, Steve aims to create an even more beautiful Baltimore.
